What Tent Size Do I Need for an Event?

Updated: Mar 28

Quite frankly it depends on the event but we are here to help! We manufacture tents in a multitude of sizes for you to choose from. At the same time, we offer three tent varieties that are perfect for events. The video below showcases these for you to see.

Unsure about what size tent you need for your event? Our blog post provides expert advice and a variety of options to choose from. Read on for helpful tips!

So what size tent do you need?

Well, there are a couple of things to consider. Will you be hosting an event under the tent? Will you be operating a business under the tent? How much space do you have available for your event? Is it an indoor or outdoor event? We could go on and on but these are some of the basic questions we would have for you before we could help you.

Hosting an event under a tent

If you are hosting a party or an evening dinner underneath a tent then you probably want to have a frame tent. A frame tent is a tent composed of multiple tent poles that requires some assembly. These tents can be quite large and are great for outdoor settings since they have a high ceiling. The most common size is the 20x20 but they are available in plenty of sizes for you to choose from depending on the size of the event you will host beneath it.

How Much Space do you have available?

The square footage you have available for your event is very important. Planning a layout helps a lot so you can figure out the logistics of installing a tent. If your location changes often and you are subject to different size constraints then we would recommend you purchase a tent that would fit your multiple locations. Another option is purchasing multiple smaller tents that you can combine to form a larger tent when necessary. For example many of our clients purchase two or three 10x10 canopies and they line them up side by side to form a 10x30 set up. You can also take each canopy and install it separately to have multiple stations throughout an event. Of course, this applies to large tent sizes as well. You can install two 20x20 tents side by side or you can purchase a 20x40 tent, which would eliminate the possibility of breaking it up into two different stations.

Is your event indoors or outdoors?

Why do we ask? Well, some indoor events are a little more difficult to plan for since ceilings and tent footprint sizes can change based on the venue. If you will be attending many different events you want to be sure your tent is portable and that it will fit in the venue you will be attending. For example, trade shows are constrained to whatever area you are allotted on the event floor plan. You wouldn't want to show up with a larger tent, because they wouldn’t allow you to use it at all. Also, for trade shows and exhibitions, 10x10 canopies are the most common option. You can also use a 10x10 frame tent but the pop up canopy is very easy to set up and take down whilst still covering the same 100 square feet footprint.

On the other hand, there are outdoor events. For events in an open field or venue, you want to properly secure your tent since wind is a factor that indoor tents don't tend to face. Securing your tent is very important for your safety and the safety of others.

Again, there are quite literally thousands of tent options but if you let us know how you will be using it, we could advise you about the pros and cons of going with some of these specific options.
