What is a pop up canopy exactly? Sometimes when people refer to "pop up tents" they are talking about camping tents. Camping tents are outside of our expertise since we focus mainly on advertising canopies for events. Our pop up tents are more in line with the ones you will see at farmer's markets or a backyard shade tent.
Other times we have noticed that clients use the term "pop up tent" in reference to pop up events. These events are mostly retail or food driven and they set up shop for limited periods of time before disappearing indefinitely. These events could also be driven by the entertainment industry for concerts, movies, theaters, live performances or media events. They come and go in many variations but are often accompanied by colorful and art oriented decor at venues like galleries. In this case, it seems they are referring to the tents used at these events, broadly. It is common to see both large and small tents deployed at these events but which is which? Again, what exactly is a pop up canopy?
POP UP CANOPIES
In the tent industry we have a completely different concept of what a pop up tent is. Our most straightforward definition is a canopy tent with a collapsible frame that requires no assembly. Oftentimes they are referred to as easy ups. The frame for the tent has an accordion style collapsible system with a single cover for the tent top. Since the frame collapses, it doesn't require assembly. You can see the video below for reference.
These tents come in a variety of standard sizes for different use cases. The most common of them is the 10x10 tent. The sizes are as follows (measured in feet.)
What if I need a larger tent?
We also manufacture large frame tents, often called pole tents, that require that you assemble the entire tent frame. Depending on the size, they will require two or more people to assemble and install the tent. You can see the video above for reference. The typical parts list for a pole frame tent is as follows -
Legs
Rafters
Crowns
Spreaders
Hip Rafters
Connectors
Mast (sometimes required for certain tent model)
Cables ( sometimes required for certain tent models)
The one benefit of large tent models is that they are available in sizes that are significantly bigger than the 10x20 pop up canopy frames. These big tents can be up to 50' wide and 100'+ in length. For super massive structures we will offer recommendations for layouts and different tent options since larger structures are more difficult to plan for.
